be what you want videos
the fallowing videos were presented on small-screen monitors, as components in the BWYW installation. As the project shifted from a site of production & collaboration to a site where the residue of these events began to form & organize as evidence, the videos, along with edited sound recordings, emerged like floating memories-turned characters, that continued to occupy the present absence articulated in the BWYW text. This symbolic occupation of space, like a figure of speech, can be seen as a literary strategy to present a story that continues to develop as it remains in motion - I wanted this symbolic use of absence to also inderectly parallel Eugene Ionesco’s use of absent characters in his 1952 play “The Chairs”
